Dojang Conduct (4th)

The "keys" to proper conduct in the dojang are courtesy, respect and discipline.

  • Courtesy: to be polite.

  • Respect: to treat others as you would like to be treated.

  • Discipline: to follow rules.

1. Should you arrive late for class:

  • change quickly.
  • report to the front of the class (junior side), bow and sit in place.
  • When you receive permission, stand, bow and join the class in the proper position.

2. During class always bow before approaching and when leaving the Master (Instructor).

3. A ready stance must be maintained in front of the Master (Instructor) unless otherwise directed.

4. Always respond "Sir" or "Ma'am" to the Master (Instructor) individually or as a group.

5. When bowing senior to junior, the junior always deflects his eyes. The exception is when lining up to spar - never take your eyes away from your opponent.

6. When bowing senior to junior, it is more proper for the junior to bow lower.
